You might want to make sure they're on a short leash

You may not exactly be number one in your partner's eyes. When it came down to several key characteristics you'd want in mate, more people said that their dog met the requirements than their sweetie, according to a recent survey conducted for the pet food brand Old Mother Hubbard.

They surveyed 741 adults who currently owned dogs and were in long-term relationships. When given 10 crucial traits (like love at first sight, faithfulness, friendship, and always happy to see you) 55 percent of people said their relationship with their dogs met the criteria. Unfortunately, only 32 percent of people could say the same about their human partners.

It may sound ridiculous, but we're pretty sure all dog owners can relate. Hey, your pooch will pretty much always be down for cuddling and they'll never forget to text you back. But don't worry, when you factor in other characteristics like dog breath, shedding, and bathroom cleanup, we're pretty sure you'll be back on top.
